Wed On The Water With Cruise Ship Weddings New York

By Ann Lewis

Your wedding day is one of the most special days of your life, so you definitely want to do it right. There are lots of moving parts to planning a wedding, and it can seem pretty stressful at times. Take a look at cruise ship weddings New York to help you not only get a great, unique location for your wedding, but to also help with all the planning.

Though many think of large cruise ships when they think of a wedding cruise, a New York, NY cruising ceremony has smaller ships that are not gargantuan. They are large enough to accommodate all your guests though, and you get to hear the sounds of sea waves and take in clean air while getting married.

On ships in the Harbor, there are two main kinds of weddings that can be conducted. The first is the shipboard kind, which holds the ceremony and often a reception after. The boat never leaves the general area, so after the reception is over, it makes its way back to the pier, where you and your guests disembark, after which you can get the honeymoon started.

The other kind is onboard the traditional cruise where you travel to other countries for one or more weeks. Not all your guests have to book the full cruise, however. They can just board for the ceremony, and then leave before the passengers arrive. You get to stay on with your husband or wife, and the cruise becomes your honeymoon.

Doing a shipboard ceremony is not unlike holding it at a destination resort or hotel, but you get to be on the water. You get all the amenities of a hotel, such as a large bridal suite for putting on makeup and gowns. There is usually a VIP suite for others who are in the ceremony such as bridesmaids. For guests, there are plenty of bathrooms and places to sit. Many ships have more than one dining area as well.

Most companies that own ships that hold these ceremonies have tiers or levels of service available. You can choose from a served and seated dinner where each guest gets their plates brought to them from a preplanned menu. Then there is the buffet, where they get to choose from a large selection of foods to suit any appetite and dietary need. A band can be provided, or you can bring your own onboard with you.

Many bridges fret about something going wrong on the appointed day, but not if you let the experienced team onboard take care of things. They can walk you through all the steps to planning that perfect ceremony. All you need to do on the big day is show up and breathe easy knowing you are in good hands.

Of course, the actual ceremony is not the only thing you can hold onboard. Your engagement party and rehearsal dinners can be planned there as well. This is a great idea, because then your guests know exactly where to go on the big day, and won't get lost on the pier. Bridal luncheons, post-wedding brunches and even bachelor and bachelorette parties are all possible as well.
