Everyone loves the freshness of food in a farmers market. The various Sunday farmers market Edmonton provides for their locals is a development that most people appreciate. People can now get Disabled veteran farm loans. More and more people are leaning towards healthier foods which a farmers market prices in providing. Seasonal foods and a wider variety of foods are found in these markets. They are even sold at a cheaper price than those at supermarkets.

These markets do not only provide food products but also act as entertainment spots providing different activities for customers to enjoy. Most of them also have a patio useful for meet and greets and chilling spots. For a while these markets in Alberta have been a norm but Sunday farmers markets have been popping up more recently.

The Century Park Market on twenty Third Avenue and 111 streets. The Mothers Market opening from 10 in morning to 5 in the afternoon and is located on 10251, street 109 and the South Common Farmers market which opens from 10 in the morning to 4 in the afternoon. Most of these markets also open on other days apart from Sunday.

There are two types of farmers market in Alberta namely the approved ones and public ones that have not been approved. They are approved by the Alberta Agriculture and Forestry and have some rules they operate by. The private markets do not have to operate by these guidelines.

The public ones are privately owned and it is required that each of the vendor of them should have their own permit. Operating under this organisation means that they are required to abide by some stipulated mandates which include that 80 percent of their vendors be selling local produce which is not a requirement for public ones.

The approved markets have to abide by the rule that eighty percent of their vendors are local. The public markets do not have to abide by this rule. Also, in the approved markets, all the vendors can share one permit, for public ones each vendor has to have their own permit and are required to meet health standards.

There are very few disadvantages associated with farmers markets. The first one being that their availability is only limited to a single day on Sundays which they are open. This can be quite inconveniencing for those that cannot get time on this day and hence they miss out.

Another major problem associated with these institutions is that some since the demand for fresh supply from farmers is high, some vendors may opt to cheat and get their supply from outside the region in order to maintain constant supply, these markets do have a purpose to support local goods and outsourcing for products is going against this very rule. Despite these few challenges, most of these markets have achieved their goal to supply fresh products as well as promote local farmers.
